70 million: testo e traduzione
And it hardly looked like a novel at all,
E non sembrava affatto un romanzo
I hardly look like a hero at all
Io non sembravo affatto un eroe
And I'm sorry, you didn't publish this
E mi spiace che tu non l'abbia mai pubblicato
And you were white as snow; I was white as a sheet
E tu eri bianca come la neve; io ero bianco come un foglio
When you came down in this black dress
Quando sei arrivata in quel vestito nero
In your mom's black maternity dress
Nel vestito nero premaman di tua madre
And so,
E così
Though it hardly looked like a novel at all,
Anche se non sembrava affatto un romanzo
And the city treats me, it treats me to you
E la città, la città mi offre te
And a cup of coffee for you
E una tazza di caffè per te
I should learn it's language and speak it to you
Dovrei imparare la sua lingua e parlarti
And 70 million should be in the know
E 70 milioni dovrebbero sapere
And 70 million don't go out at all
E 70 milioni non escono affatto
And 70 million wouldn't walk this street
E 70 milioni non camminerebbero per questa strada
And 70 million would run to a hole
E 70 milioni correrebbero in una tana
And 70 million would be wrong wrong wrong
E 70 milioni si sbaglierebbero, si sbaglierebbero, si sbaglierebbero
And 70 million never see it at all
E 70 milioni non lo vedrebbero mai
And 70 million haven't tasted snow
E 70 millioni non hanno mai assaggiato la neve
And we dance dance dance like the children dance
E noi balliamo balliamo balliamo come ballano i bambini
Imply thought are we taking the chance?
Implica che ci abbiamo tentato?
With the light still on, and will we ever reach the tower
Con le luci ancora accede, e non raggiungeremo mai la torre
And after you came down in this black dress
Quando sei arrivata in quel vestito nero
I don't know what took so very long
Non so perché ci sia voluto così tanto tempo
And this,
E questa
And this isn't a war, we don't have to ration
E questa non è una guerra, non dobbiamo razionare
Now wave white flag, and you kept it at home
Ora sventola bandiera bianca, e la tenevi a casa
And words I wrote from a foreign land
E parole che ho scritto da una terra straniera
You're holding my no longer foreign hand
Tu stai tenendo la mia mano non più straniera
And 70 million should be in the know
E 70 milioni dovrebbero sapere
And 70 million don't go out at all
E 70 milioni non escono affatto
And 70 million wouldn't walk this street
E 70 milioni non camminerebbero per questa strada
And 70 million would run to a hole
E 70 milioni correrebbero in una tana
And 70 million would be wrong wrong wrong
E 70 milioni si sbaglierebbero, si sbaglierebbero, si sbaglierebbero
And 70 million never see it at all
E 70 milioni non lo vedrebbero mai
And 70 million haven't tasted snow
E 70 millioni non hanno mai assaggiato la neve

Gone to the movies
Ecco una canzone che sembrerebbe scritta apposta per questo blog...
Now the rain comes down the windows and it
Drops onto the forehead of the waiting boy
He surveys his rental kingdom and he
Wonders if he's really lost his one joy
Another fool would go down to the
Only place she ever went to lose herself
She's gone to the movies now and she
Don't need your help
Now the rain turns into snowfall as the
City sky reflects the silver street below
And it covers up the cars and the
Wall-Flowers cd ended half an hour ago
Another fool would dig the broken car out from the snow
And drive to find the show
She's gone to the movies now and she's
Not coming home
She's gone to the movies now and she's
Not coming home
Now he looks around his place and anyways
There's nowhere she could sit besides the bed
And he wonders if the car will start tomorrow
Or he'll have to take the bus instead
Any other fool would be out on the roadway
Trying to spot her rusted Pontiac
She's gone to the movies now and she's
Not coming back
She's gone to the movies now and she's
Not coming back
Now the rain comes down the windows and it
Drops onto the forehead of the waiting boy
He surveys his rental kingdom and he
Wonders if he's really lost his one joy
Another fool would go down to the
Only place she ever went to lose herself
She's gone to the movies now and she
Don't need your help
Now the rain turns into snowfall as the
City sky reflects the silver street below
And it covers up the cars and the
Wall-Flowers cd ended half an hour ago
Another fool would dig the broken car out from the snow
And drive to find the show
She's gone to the movies now and she's
Not coming home
She's gone to the movies now and she's
Not coming home
